Deanna’s Story:
“After having 4 kids and putting on lots of weight, I knew I needed to change how I ate. I was pre-diabetic and wasn’t making the best choices. I tried all of the expensive diets out there and they worked but weren’t sustainable because when the money ran out, so did the benefits of the diets. I then started with simple exercising but needed more in the form of calorie control, which I knew nothing about, so I turned to the internet and that’s when I found Keto. I have been living a Keto-Lifestyle for 21 months now and have lost 70 Pounds. I am no longer pre-diabetic, have more energy (no more afternoon crashes), have more clarity and focus, as I was experiencing brain fog probably due to Alzheimer’s and Dementia running in my family and I am not hungry all the time. My biggest hurdle was dealing with my extreme sweet tooth. I loved all things sweet! By not having any sweets during my first 2 months of Keto, except for peanut butter to help take the edge off, I no longer have a sweet tooth which still amazes me! Another hurdle is being able to bring my family on board especially my husband who has lost almost 70 pounds as well and is in better health. I will continue to live this lifestyle as it’s delicious and makes me feel good. I am more focused on fitness as I have pretty much attained my weight loss goal and love working out. Watching this body of mine change and it being in the best shape as I grow old is a health goal I will be forever working on.”
What is the best advice you would give someone just starting out on keto?
The best advice I would give someone starting Keto is to keep your electrolytes up with sodium in the beginning. Not doing that will cause you to have Keto-Flu and that’s where people tend to quit Keto because they feel really bad during the beginning transition.
What is your favorite part of being keto?
My favorite part of being Keto is not being hungry all the time. I was pre-diabetic before Keto and if I waited too long to eat, I would get HANGRY. Now I can go for long stints and still feel hungry but not shakey, sweaty, headache overload, wanna kill someone hungry! LOL!
Great work Deanna! We appreciate your submission.
