How long have you been following a ketogenic diet? 4 years

What is your favorite keto meal? Protein

Why did you start keto?

I started Keto to reverse my health as I was suffering physically from diabetes, high cholesterol, spinal and hip pain, migraine, hypertension, obesity, etc., and mentally from anxiety. I was relying on medication and doctors to overcome pains with many hospital stays and boxes of painkillers. But now it’s been 4 years of no medications or doctors’ visits. My body is stronger, leaner, and healthier now. I’m 52 but I can do more now than I ever did.

What was the hardest part of keto and how did you overcome it?

The hardest part of Keto was the first week of changing my mindset. I overcame it by telling myself I do not want to be unhealthy and obese any longer and I do not want to come back to that situation ever again.

Biggest changes in your day-to-day life?

More energy when I wake up. More focus. No more pain and inflammation. Better sleeping habits. I’m lighter and am able to do strength training twice weekly and do activities that I could never do or try. Looking better when I look in the mirror.

Best tip for newbies?

Learn from a certified professional Ketogenic coach who themselves are practicing the keto lifestyle. Get your information and learn to adapt to your lifestyle. Tell yourself why you need to do the changes.

If there is one thing that you could tell yourself when first getting started, what would it be and why?

It gets easier. That is because I felt that it wouldn’t work as there are no products involved and would changing how I ate change me? I would tell myself just do it and it gets easier.

Anything you would like to add about your story?

My husband Ace is also practicing the keto lifestyle. He has reversed his diabetes and inflammation. Now he is 57 and doing better than ever besides looking good. I cook for us daily as I don’t eat other food outside. It’s just learning the information and adapting it to your life and taste. I did that and I survived and am still enjoying the benefits of Keto. The taste is good too.
