Why did you start keto?
I started keto initially to lose weight and to reverse my type 2 diabetes. However, now I only do keto to manage my type 2 diabetes without any medication.
What was the hardest part of keto and how did you overcome it?
Trying to find foods in the grocery stores or restaurants. It took a lot of reading food labels to make sure what I was buying didn’t include any hidden carbs. Same for restaurants, asking questions of what ingredients were used for items on the menu. It’s easier now as there are many more products available in the store and restaurants are more accommodating and some have keto items on their menu.
Biggest changes in your day to day life?
Being consistent is key and changing what we cooked was the biggest change. Going from pizza and pasta to meat and veggies was the biggest change.
Best tip for newbies?
Stick to meat and low-carb veggies, don’t feel pressured to buy all the keto products.
If there is one thing that you could tell yourself when first getting started, what would it be and why?
The numbers on the scale don’t matter. As long as you feel good, feel strong and feel confident, the numbers mean nothing.
