Sipping on an iced coffee might just be the perfect way to start your day. If you’re on the ketogenic diet, you know that some coffee drinks at coffee shops like Starbucks are packed full of sugar. A grande mocha frappuccino, for example, packs a whopping 54g of carbohydrates— that’s enough to kick you out of ketosis in just one drink! So, how do you stay keto at Starbucks?
We put together a complete guide on how to order keto-friendly drinks at Starbucks– from what kind of coffee you should order, to the sweeteners and creamers, and even our favorite complete keto-friendly coffee orders. Over the past year, Starbucks has updated its menu and added new sweeteners, creamers, and coffee options so let’s break down some of the newest keto-friendly options on Starbucks Menu.
Starbucks recently released their iced shaken espresso, which took the internet by storm. Stores were quickly selling out of the iced chocolate almond milk shaken espresso and iced brown sugar oatmilk shaken espresso. While both of these drinks (as-is) have around 20g of carbs each (aka definitely not keto-friendly), you too can hop on the iced shaken espresso train!
Try ordering an iced almond milk shaken espresso with no classic syrup. Instead of classic syrup, opt for stevia, sugar-free cinnamon dolce syrup, sugar-free vanilla syrup, or no sweetener.
As of March 2nd, 2021 Starbucks announced all standard iced teas will be made unsweetened. That means it is super easy to adjust sweeteners and flavor without having to worry about added carbs! We recommend trying the very instagrammable keto pink drink (order a passionfruit tea with heavy cream, sugar-free vanilla, or stevia, and added strawberries) if you haven’t already!
This tasty espresso drink combines the nutty flavor of steamed almond milk and Starbucks blonde roast into a creamy, delicious afternoon pick-me-up. A regular honey almond milk flat white has around 22g of carbs, but you can cut that down by simply swapping out the added honey for stevia or sugar-free vanilla syrup.
The Starbucks sous vide egg bites are a go-to for many individuals who are trying to stay keto at Starbucks because they are low in carbs, high in protein, and high in flavor! Starbucks recently released a kale & portabella mushroom egg bite to add to their collection of Bacon & Gruyere and Egg White & Roasted Red Pepper bites. These sous vide egg bites do have 9g of net carbs per serving, so be cautious if you are following a more strict ketogenic diet.
