Why did you start keto?
To improve my hormonal health to reverse my chronic health conditions like fatty liver disease, sleep apnea, and obesity.
What was the hardest part of keto and how did you overcome it?
Keto has been the easiest “diet” I have ever experienced. After thirty years of dieting failures and yo-yo weight gain and loss, I am grateful to have found this healthy and whole foods way of eating. I’ve ditched the word “diet” for the keto way of life!
Biggest changes in your day to day life?
My days are now filled with true joy. I did not know the true meaning of joy until eating well changed my life in body, mind, and spirit. I have more energy and am honored to be able to share about positive lifestyle changes to improve people’s physical, emotional, and spiritual health!
Best tip for newbies?
To get over the “all or nothing” mentality, I encourage my coaching clients to make one choice today and follow that up with another choice a few days later. And so on! This is what I did in my quitting sugar journey, and before long, I realized I was no longer craving sugar.
I also have five rules that helped me succeed:
- Learn the science, apply the science, and change your life!
- Start with small habits, which lead to big results.
- Stop eating around the clock (implement a fasting routine).
- Stop snacking and cheating!
- Know your limits!
If there is one thing that you could tell yourself when first getting started, what would it be and why?
Get ready for your life to flip upside down. I went from working full-time as a controller in corporate America to leaving that 32-year career to coach, write, and speak!
Anything you would like to add about your story?
The keto lifestyle has carried me through many seasons over the past five years. I reached my weight loss goals one year after starting keto and just a few short months before I went into menopause.
I’m grateful I knew how to eat healthy for my metabolism during this mid-life season. I’m also grateful that my story has been shared many times over the past few years in magazines.
I am currently featured on the front cover of Heal Your Liver by Woman’s World (published 11/11/2022). I’m also an award-winning author through the publication of my Christmas Advent Devotional “Seeking Joy Through the Gospel of Luke: A Christmas to Calvary Advent Countdown”.
