The words out! Processed carbs are out and healthy, nutrient-dense alternatives are in! In an age where cauliflower can be anything, keto dieters can rejoice because Chipotle just announced they will be going against the grain, literally! The Mexican chain restaurant will now be offering cauliflower rice as a healthy substitute for the traditional option.
Chipotle will be offering grilled cauliflower rice prepared with cilantro, salt, and lime juice for an additional $2 charge. The restaurant said they will begin rolling out the new menu in select locations this January, before branching out nationwide.
Chipotle also plans to extend its line of Lifestyle Bowls, which include keto, Paleo, Whole 30, and double protein bowls.
Hidden carbs are everywhere and even with the launch of the new cauliflower rice, you may be wondering what exactly you can order that’s keto at Chipotle. The great news is Chipotle offers a simple nutrition calculator to find out exactly what macronutrients are in your favorite chipotle dish.
The simplest option is to start off with a salad or burrito bowl (no tortilla). Add your favorite meat option (the steak packs more fat) and toppings. Lettuce, shredded cheese, and sour cream are all great options! Be careful with the queso and guac which add an extra 3.5g and 2g net carbs (per serving) respectively.
Make sure to avoid rice, beans, corn salsa, tortillas, and chips!
Next time you are looking for an easy, go-to favorite, keto bowl at Chipotle try ordering the steak burrito bowl with lettuce instead of the tortilla, sour cream, shredded cheese, and salsa (no rice or beans). This bowl will pack 23g of fat, 29g of protein, and 6g of carbs.
